Why We Need Your Help

  • A 9 year old girl is rescued from an abusive home, only to be bounced around to eight foster homes and six different schools over a two year period
  • Four children are separated from each other and placed in different foster homes after their mother and stepfather were arrested for operating a meth lab in their home
  • A teenage girl is kicked out of her foster home and forced to sleep on a cot in a group home until she turns 18 when all of her possessions are handed to her in a garbage bag because she has “aged out” of the system.

This is the reality for children in the Memphis and Shelby County welfare system. With over 1,000 children in foster care in Shelby County, the courts and our child welfare system is overburdened and many children fall through the cracks.
